Warm, musical and participatory
In the round
Services “in the round,” with movable chairs arranged to fit the occasion, have been our style since our earliest days.
Spirited singing
Music is at the heart of our services, with our cantorial soloists and the TE house band, playing since 2009.
Everyone takes part
Members lead prayers, chant Torah and Haftarah, and give the D’var Torah. Once a year the Sisterhood leads an entire Shabbat service.
Our prayerbooks
Like trusted and beloved family members
Temple Emanuel has its own prayerbook, Seder Tefilot Emanuel. It began as a loose-leaf collection of prayers in the early TE years, became the “Yellow Prayerbook,” and has inspired generations of TE members.
Alongside it we use the Reform movement’s Mishkan T’filah, and since 2018 Mishkan HaNefesh as our High Holy Days machzor.
High Holy Days
Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur at Temple Emanuel: services led by Rabbi Farbman and our cantorial soloists, children’s services, and Mishkan HaNefesh in hand.
